Le silence éternel de ces espaces infinis m'effraie

"Talent has its brutal fate in every era..." - Endre Ady

The eternal bane of genuine artistic expression is dilution by way of the endless reproduction, distribution, and repackaging of an image until its artist's hand is lost in a sea of mousepads and coffee mugs. To feel any catharsis in creation or observation of a work, one must not get the feeling that they're handling a facsimile of a facsimile of a facsimile of a facsimile of a...

paint

Fine art commissions are executed on canvas stapled over wooden stretchers unless otherwise requested. Works can be virtually any width and length, and canvases will be 1" - 1.5" thick, rendering the pieces substantial and hardy. Edges are painted and the finished product is very difficult to (which is to say don't frame it) frame.
Available media include acrylic, spray paint, ink and charcoal, but need not be client-specified. Subject matter is essentially limitless, however I don't endeavor to produce pieces to which I cannot lend my own vision. Client may provide as many or as few guidelines as he or she wishes in regard to size, subject, style, media, color scheme, etc.
The rule of thumb for pricing is $40/sq. ft. of canvas. Extraordinarily complex or unusual commissions may command a higher rate.
Mural work is most readily performed in the larger Sacramento Metro area, but I'll travel to Timbuktu if you want to fly me out there.
The general rule of thumb for pricing is $10/sq. ft. of wall and $15/sq. ft. of ceiling (rest assured Michelangelo's arms felt like they were going to fall off).

pencil + ink

I don't typically produce traditional portraiture or still-life, but the subject matter has it, so you never know. Works are available in virtually any dimension, in pencil, ink, marker, acrylic wash and charcoal on paper or other media of the client's request. If not specified, bristol board will be used. I work directly from photographs, loosely from reference material, or entirely from imagination. I am available for unique pieces as well as serial illustration work.
Generally $0.75/sq. in. or $30/sq. ft. thereover.

screenprinting/apparel

Anything, everything, seriously. I'm interested in the production of unique pieces for individuals with a particular ken for something they can be sure nobody else has. T-shirts, long-sleeve tees, thermal shirts, wifebeater tanks, muscle tanks, camisoles, tubes, sweatshirts, hoodies, jackets, underwear (boxers, thongs, briefs, bras), swimwear, shorts, sweatpants, lounge pants, skirts, skorts, socks, knit and baseball caps, bandannas, belts, bags, scarves, blankets, wall tapestries, and yatta.
Men's, women's, boys', girls', unisex, infant, toddler and even dogwear and catwear, any color of the bloody rainbow. There are very few limitations in the screenprinting arena... inks can be mixed in virtually any color, including fluorescents and metallics; designs can be client-supplied or custom designed, up to 12"x15" or so, and applied anywhere on the garment. I produce each one by hand, so if you need a commercial-looking print, go to a commercial printer.
Prices vary greatly depending on the item and the printing treatment. Cotton tee base prices average $6-$10 and sweatshirts can run anywhere from $20-$50 depending on the price of the stock you choose. Single pass (one color) prints: Add $7 to the garment price, multi-pass prints: $5 for each additional ink color. Fees <$5 will be assessed on client-supplied designs which need adaptation for printability: For single-color prints, the design will need to be black and white (grays and gradients, if left, will appear grainy and distressed and won't express as smooth halftones). Vector art is ideal, but jpegs and hard copy can be serviced. For multi-colored designs, each unique color will also need to be separated digitally onto its own layer.

snow

Unique and customized snowboards are produced with no corporate or brand presence whatsoever, and are printed on professional-grade decks. Finished product is fully ridable (I utilize a third-party printer), but don't expect me to mail you any hardware or accessories. Designs are essentially limitless - any mixture of photographs, illustrations, text and digital design may be implemented.
Snowboards are big. Vector designs are the only way to guarantee crisp, clear art, but feel free to risk your ass with jpegs (anything <500 dpi = risking your ass).
Client-supplied design with little or no manipulation required: $1,200 Custom board with commissioned design work: $1,500. + $30-$50 shipping if you're outside Northern California.

skate

Custom decks are hand-worked in the same manner as fine art pieces and are subject to the similar possibilities and limitations. The blanks can be thought of as canvases. Most are pre-stained on the bottom, and both this color and the upper deck's natural wood may be either covered or utilized bare in the design.
Finished product is fully lacquered, though not to commercial standards, and will withstand some scratching and scuffing. This may seem manifest, but it's worth noting that if you actually ride it, you will destroy it. If this bothers you, switch to faberge eggs.
Deck: around $10. Base design work: $25. Varying levels of complexity, including grip tape work: $30 - $50.
